Minor hockey, as we know it today in Guelph was something dreamed about by the original founders of organized hockey in Guelph in the 1930’s. Although they had little with which to work, their desire and determination carried it through to a successful beginning.

After World War II, a group of determined individuals founded the present Guelph Minor Hockey Association. An affiliation was founded with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association in 1949.

From a humble start of twenty-one teams in five age groups, Guelph Minor Hockey has continued to grow and prosper in the City of Guelph. In 2002, there are over 1650 youth in the City of Guelph playing on one of over 80 House, Representative teams.

The success of organized hockey has been due to the many hundreds of volunteer workers who have followed in the footsteps of the early founders and pioneers of the great game of hockey in Guelph.
