Gryphons Atom AA Team Make History As The Mississauga Blackhawks Tournament CHAMPIONS!!!!!
After making tournament history with a two and a half hour long final, The Guelph Gryphons Atom AA team battled hard in quadruple OT winning 2-1 against King Rebellion. The Atom AA team went 3-1 in the round robin and finished 1st overall heading into the semi's.

There was no room left in the stands to sit, and fans were fighting to find a spot to stand around the glass to watch one of the most exciting finals in tournament history! It was 1-0 for The Gyphons going into the 3rd with only seconds left on the clock. King Rebellion pulled their goalie and the face-off was down at the Gryphon end.......4...3...2...1...The Rebellion score in the last second of the 3rd period. While the refs stood to the side to figure out if the puck went in before or after the buzzer, the decision was eventually made to call it a goal and make it 1-1 going into OT.

With a 3v3 overtime format, both teams battled hard to get that winning goal but after 4 overtime periods, it was The Gryphons determination and "never give up" attitude that won the game with a great pass and top left hand corner shot! The arena went crazy and The Gryphons all flew onto the ice to celebrate. Both teams played remarkable!

It was emotional for all watching the game knowing the kids were exhausted as each overtime period began and finished but somehow both teams kept working hard, displaying some of the best hockey ever played in a tournament final.

I am so proud of how the team worked together to not give up, but to try their best knowing it could have gone either way. I am PROUD to be a Gryphon and PROUD to be coaching this remarkable team!!!!
