Novice AAs are Heading to the OMHA Finals
The Novice AA Gryphons took to the ice against the Caledon Hawks yesterday with a 2 games to none lead in their best-of-five series.

After a lethargic first, the Gryphons conceded the first goal of the match early in the 2nd period, but seemed to take over from there. The Gryphons dominated much of the second period and finally broke through on the scoreboard when Gage T emerged from the penalty box to pick up a loose puck in the neutral zone, dangled a Hawk defenseman, and shelfed the tying goal.

The spark seemed to ignite the Gryphons even further as the momentum continued for the boys from Guelph. With seven minutes left in the third period the Gryphons’ Greg F deked out the Caledon netminder with a silky-smooth move to give his team a 2 – 1 lead.

From there, the Gryphons locked it down with some solid defensive play led by Evan P, Ryan M and Parker W, and some fantastic goaltending by Finn P.

The boys would like to thank the many fans who attended the game last night to cheer them on. Your support was amazing!

The victory gave the Gryphons a 6pts – 0pts series win, and a spot in the OMHA Central finals against the Barrie Colts. The boys are very excited to represent the GMHA in the OMHA finals, and are looking forward to seeing everyone come on out to cheer them on.
