M Peewee AAs are headed to the OMHA Finals!
Congratulations to the Guelph Jr Gryphons M Peewee AA team as they swept their way to the OMHA Championships!!

The Gryphons ripped through the round robin going 8-0 and outscoring their opponents 49-8. This was just the start of the road to the 2020 OMHA Championships.
In the quarter-finals, the M Peewee AAs were up against a hard nosed team from Orangeville. In 2 of the 3 games the scores were closer than the game actually played out. Orangeville's keeper in game 1 and 3 kept them in those games as the Gryphons outshot them 24-12 and 38-10 respectively. In the end the Gryphs pulled off the sweep taking the series 3-0.
Onto the semi-finals. Due to the series with Orangeville ending much sooner than Oakville's with Belle River, the Gryphs were worried they'd be a little rusty. 3 minutes and 27 seconds into 1st period of game 1 changed all of that as the Gryphs opened up the scoring. After outshooting the Rangers 15-5 in the first 2 periods, the Gryphons held a 2-0 lead heading into the 3rd. Oakville brought on the pressure early and ended up burying a goal to make it 2-1. The rest of the 3rd period went back and forth to the buzzer with the Gryphs holding onto a 2-1 victory.
Off to Oakville for game 2. Again, the Gryphons took control early and peppered Oakville's goalie with shots. However, it wasn't until midway through the 3rd period before the Gryphs would find the back of the net. Shortly after, with the momentum still on their side, the Gryphs put home another beauty. With 15 seconds left in the game Oakville got a call their way and scored on a rebound. The Gryphs would prevail, winning 2-1, outshooting the Rangers 34-10.
Back to Guelph for game 3 and a huge hometown crowd behind them. The Gryphons would jump out to an early lead scoring 2 mins and 27 seconds into the game. They didn't stop their dominance of the game there. The Gryphs would put away 5 more goals taking the game 6-1, outshooting the Rangers 33-7.
With the sweep of the semi's now behind them, the Guelph Jr Gryphons M Peewee AA team await the winner of Markham and Clarington for the 2020 OMHA Championship series.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, parents, families, and friends of this amazing young group! All the boys and coaches continued hard work has gotten them this far. Let's Go Gryphons in the finals!! #Redhats
