Peewee AA Defeat Milton in Tie Breaker #1; Advance to Tie Breaker #2
After Tri County Round Robin play resulted in a three way tie for 1st place,  the Guelph Gryphons hosted the Milton Winterhawks on Sunday evening in a one game tie breaker, with the winner advancing to play the Glancaster Bomber in a second tie breaker later this week.

Guelph came out strong and buzzed the Winterhawks zone, creating several scoring chances off of turnovers.  The Gryphs got on the board while on the powerplay with 2:17 remaining in the period as Nathan Boyle and Matthew Stam smartly worked the puck down low before feeding Tanner Bothwell out front who slammed it home to give the Gryphs a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Guelph increased their lead 50 seconds into the second period as Kyle Assmann fed Matthew Stam with a long breakout pass and Stam streaked down the ice, danced around a Milton defender and snapped a wrister inside the far post to make the score 2-0.  Five minutes later, just seconds after killing off a Milton powerplay, Olan Norton took a pass and ripped a drive past the Milton goalie to increase the Guelph lead to 3-0.  Tyler Chadwick and Zach McKnight assisted on the play.  Guelph penalty trouble slowed down Gryphs high pace and Milton responded by closing the gap to 3-1 with 3:03 remaining in the second.

That would be all the scoring as Guelph put up a clean sheet in the final frame as a result of tight checking and several key stops by netminder Alex Driscoll.

With the victory, Guelph now advances to play the Glancaster Bombers in a final tie breaker Elimination Game.  Game is set for Tuesday evening in Ancaster.
