SD1:  focuses on fundamental skills. Most players in SD1 have been skating for at least 1 season but have not had any experience with hockey. Small area games are used to promote skill development as well as add an element of fun competition to the mix. Hockey games are played, but these games are cross-ice games. Score is not kept and there are no referees.

Hockey games are played, but these games are half-ice games.  Score is not kept and there are no referees.

SD3 (Minor Novice):
builds on the fundamental skills developed in SD1 and SD2.  Each team participates in 1 practice per week and 1 game per week.  Emphasize of the program is fun, with a focus on hockey skills, proper positioning, and the introduction of basic strategy and rules, such as offsides and icing.  Score is not kept and there are no referees.
