GREEN PUCK ELITE SUPERSERIES SHOWCASE AAA
The Minor Bantam AAA travelled to Southbend Indiana the
weekend of December 12th – 14th for the Green Puck
Showcase. The team had a strong
showing sweeping the series at 5-0-0.
Tournament began on Friday, with a 9am puck drop. Guelph arrived at this showcase tournament with a 6 game winning streak. Tournament play was 2 – 22 minute periods.
Game one was played against Oakland with a 5-0 win; Game two faced the Gryphons against OMAHA with 4-1 win; Game three against the Iowa Wild 3-1 with win at the iconic Notre Dame University game pad; Game four was a meet against Madison with 3-0 win and finally, for game five, the team travelled to Kalamazoo on their way home where they banged out a 4-1 win against the Buffalo Saints.
As a part of the weekend, the team was taken on a tour of Notre Dame. One of the main highlights of this tour was the football stadium and the inspirational sign that made the movie “Rudy” unforgettable; players religiously tap this on their way to the field – Play like a Champion Today – to this day, the tradition carries on.
