Peewee AA wins Pittsburgh Fall Classic!
The Guelph Gryphons Peewee AA
Team headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 22nd and participated in the
Steel City Fall Classic Tournament.
After picking up some pointers from Sid and Phil at the Penguins game Thursday night, the boys played their first game and easily handled the Pittsburg Predators 6-2. The Saturday morning game was a tougher experience as they lost a close one to a very strong South Hills Panthers Team 3-2. Deciding that this was our game (meaning Canada’s) the boys showed true determination sparked by Dylan Hudon’s four goal performance as they hammered the previously undefeated Ashburn Extreme 9-3. They would face that same determined Ashburn team in the semi-finals and sparked by Henry Turner’s thrilling 4 on 4 overtime goal, won the game 5-4. The Boys, more determined than ever to show their Canadian Pride, played a very disciplined defensive game and came home with the Gold medal after Sam Barry’s empty net goal gave them a 3-1 Win. Thanks to solid goaltending by both Logan and Jack, some strong defense, and back checking by our forwards they were victorious. Thanks to the coaches, parents and especially to Michelle McLean, Kari Phillips and Denise Hutton for keeping us organized, fed and having a pile of fun. A great weekend capped by a great victory.
