Gryphons Win Doug Thompson Memorial Tournament
The Peewee AE Gryphons won the Doug Thompson Memorial Tournament in Milton over the weekend with a thrilling 1-0 win in overtime in the final game.

After finishing the round robin in second place, the Gryphs defeated Richmond Hill 3-0 in the semi-final before taking on host Milton in the final.  Despite controlling the play for most of the game, Guelph could not solve the Milton goalie until 46 seconds left in the overtime period when Cole Armstrong broke lose behind the D, made a move and tucked the puck five-hole past the netminder for the win.  Thomas Ford recorded shutouts in both the semi-final and final to give him 16 on the year.

The tournament win book ended a great season for the boys, who also won their early bird tournament in Orangeville.  In between they had great runs in both the OMHA and Tri-County and playoffs.

In total, the AE squad won 41 games this year, reaching the 40-win plateau for the second straight season as the only team in the GMHA to accomplish the feat.

What a great way to finish off their peewee career's !
