Bantam AE Boys take Silver in Tri-County Finals
The Guelph Bantam AE boys took Silver after a tough heart breaking OT game 5 loss in Tri-County Final. The team took Centre Wellington to the distance with back to back OT thrillers... The boys played some of their best hockey of the season in a game five thriller in Fergus last night despite coming up short in OT.
This was the second over time game in as many nights for the Bantam boys as they battled through injuries and rallied back from a 2-1 game deficit to force a game five against a hard hitting and skilled Centre Wellington team. After winning a thriller at home on Wednesday night, the team played in Fergus last night and once again found themselves in an OT situation. Not as lucky this time as Centre Wellington found a way to put a bouncing puck behind our net minder for a series win half way through OT. Congratulations to the Bantam AE boys for a gutsy effort playing through injuries and for most of the playoffs with a very short bench (at times as few as 12 skaters). Playing only the final two games at full strength, the boys played an outstanding "team" game last night. The boys finished the season with a silver medal after a great playoff run and some outstanding play by each and every one of them! We will now take this positive momentum into our final tournament next weekend where we plan on taking home some hardware... Congratulations to the boys, coaching staff and parents on a great hockey season!
