Minor Atom AAA Gryphs Report
The Minor Atom AAA junior Gryphs ran into some tough competition in their last 2 regular season games losing 6-2 to Hamilton and 2-1 to Burlington. On Tuesday September 27th the Gryphs traveled to Hamilton and were downed by the Bulldogs. Alessandro Gruosso faced over 30 shots in the game. The Gryphs found themselves down 6-0 before they answered with 2 goals in the 3rd period to tighten the gap; one by Noah Milne and the other by Landon Mitchell.

On Saturday October 1st, the Gryphs dawned the pink stick tape in support of Breast cancer awareness month and gave a great effort in their only weekend game; only to fall to the visiting Burlington Eagles 2-1. Trenton Harris opened the scoring late in the first period for the Gryphs on a shifty passing play by Landon Mitchell. The Eagles answered back with 2 goals in the second period to take the lead going into the final frame. Despite some late pressure by the Gryphs, and a final point-blank chance by Brady Smith with 7 seconds remaining that was foiled by the Eagles tender, the game ended with the visiting squad sneaking out of Guelph with a final 2-1 decision. Kurtis Abbey was sharp between the pipes and the Gryphs defense played solid to keep the Eagles forwards out of the scoring areas.
