Guelph’s Tyke A Jr. Gryphons continued their playoff
round robin with two games this weekend. On Saturday, Guelph welcomed the
Garden City Falcons.
The Gryphon’s Nicco S. struck for an early marker and added an empty netter late to lead Guelph to a 2 – 0 victory. Once again, the Gryphon goaltenders Tyson MB and Finn P were massive in combining for the shutout. Other Gryphon standouts included Sawyer S and Gage T for their excellent passing and team play.
On Sunday, the Gryphons took a trip to Niagara Falls for a date with the Flyers. Nicco S continued his great play by providing two more beautiful goals in addition to some fine defensive play. Tyson MB and Finn P were again unbeatable in the Gryphon net, and the Gryphons earned another 2 – 0 decision.
Sunday’s victory was particularly impressive on account of the incredible team play exhibited by many of the Gryphons. Tyson D, Luca R, Auguste T and Evan P demonstrated some tremendous passing and play making, while Jamie N and Jax S aggressively battled for every loose puck that they encountered.
After this weekend’s play, the Gryphons are 4 – 0 in playoffs and find themselves in first place in TriCounty’s Tyke 1 division.
The Tyke As will be travelling to Newmarket to participate in the Cujo Invitational this weekend, and will return to league competition on Tuesday January 24 when they travel to Oakville.
