The Tyke A Jr. Gryphons continued their journey
through the Tri-County playoffs with two more games this week.
On Thursday, the Gryphons dropped a 3-2 decision to an inspired Orangeville Flyer team. The Gryphons fought hard to close a 2-0 deficit on goals from Nicco S and Jax S. However, a last minute goal by the Flyers was the difference in this very tight game.
Noteworthy performances were turned in by Luca R who was tenacious on the forecheck, Tyson D who exhibited great puck movement, and Sawyer S who proved his versatility as a centreman.
On Sunday, the Gryphons travelled to Acton to face the Halton Hills Thunder. The regular season champion Thunder set the pace early and earned a 4-1 victory over the Gryphons.
Guelph’s Auguste T was the lone goal scorer on the day while Nate M and Greg F were fantastic on defence. Sawyer S and Gage T continued their strong play winning many battles along the boards, and Tyson MB and Finn P were solid in the Gryphon goal.
These Gryphons get another shot at the Thunder on Saturday when they host Halton Hills in a playoff rematch.
