Two Win Weekend for Tyke Gryphons
The Tyke A Gryphons went 2 for 2 this weekend in Tri-County playoff action.

On Saturday, the Gryphons took a trip to Burlington to face the Eagles. In a game that was an incredibly tight checking affair, the two teams played twenty-nine and a half minutes of scoreless hockey. With about 30 seconds left in the third period, Lucas S scooped up the puck in the neutral zone, took off for the Burlington net, and rifled a shot into the top corner. The goal brought the Gryphons a 1 – 0 victory.

The Gryphons were led by the superb goaltending of Tyson MB and Finn P, while Nate M and Evan P provided a stone wall defense in front of the Gryphon goaltenders.

On Sunday, Guelph hosted the first place Oakville Rangers. Despite falling behind early, the Gryphons rallied back on their way to a 3 – 2 win. Nicco S notched two highlight reel tallies for the Gryphons while Sawyer S converted on a great pass from Luca R to round out the scoring. Tyson MB sealed the deal in the Gryphon net as he turned aside an Oakville penalty shot late in the third period.

The weekend’s results mean the Gryphons are 8 – 5 – 2 in their Tri Country playoff loop. Despite their strong play this weekend, other league results have officially eliminated the Gryphons from championship contention. However, the Tyke A Gryphons have made incredible improvements this season and have lots to be proud of. Congratulations on an amazing playoff run.

The Gryphons will conclude their playoff schedule on Wednesday night in Orangeville.
