Tyke B Jr. Gryphons Start Playoffs With A Big Win!!!!
The Tyke B Jr. Gryphons played their 1st playoff game this past Friday night against the Milton Winterhawks winning 4-3.

It was an exciting first game of the 2016-2017 playoffs for the Tyke B Gryphons as they hosted the Milton Winterhawks. The Gryphons started the game excited and very motivated scoring 3 goals in the 1st period. Goals scored by Cole Gibson and Ayden Lamorea (2) with assists from Banin Howden, Andrew Brown and Jonathan Berthiaume. Going into the 2nd period the Gryphons held the lead at 3-0 but the Winterhawks battled back to score 3 goals to tie the game bringing the score to 3-3.  In the 3rd period both teams fought hard to keep the puck out of each end but in the last 30 seconds of the period, Colin Chate off a breakaway shot the puck to win it 4-3 for the Gryphons. It was a nail-biting 29 seconds left in the 3rd when the Winterhawks fought hard in front of the Gryphon net to try to tie up the game but it was remarkable goaltending by Trenton Goode who stopped the Winterhawks from getting the puck past him. Anderson Mau who also had a great game in net for the Gryphons only allowed one goal and saved numerous attempts by the Winterhawks.

A BIG shout out and congratulations goes out to our great forwards; Jake Annis won a number of battles to take the puck up for scoring chances. Tyler Kelly had a number of breakaways and was able to skate hard back to the Gryphon end to stop the opposition from scoring. Andrew Brown also won a number of battles and passing to keep the puck moving forward. Nash Willsie with his great backchecking and battles to win the puck against the boards. Colin Chate playing aggressive to win face-offs. Avery Smith carried the puck into the opposition's end resulting on several shots on net. Banin Howden did a great job playing wing and fighting hard to steal the puck from the opposition. Cole Gibson worked hard along the boards and blocked shots. Ayden Lamorea made a fantastic transition from defense to forward resulting in breakaways and scoring opportunities.

Our remarkable defense; Parker White showed his versatility by playing both left and right defense throughout the game. Royce Lin did a great job clearing the puck out of the Gryphon zone and stick-handling around the opposition. Austyn Lamorea had a great game playing defense for the first time keeping the puck in the offensive zone several times. Jonathan Berthiaume moved the puck forward passing and backchecking. Aiden Wamboldt worked hard to keep the Winterhawks from getting passed him for scoring opportunities.

It was a great game to watch and a great start to the playoffs!!!!

Today the Tyke B Jr. Gryphons played the Centre Wellington Fusion losing 4-0. The Gryphons worked hard, won a number of battles and had numerous scoring chances but could not get the puck passed the Fusion goalie to score. Great passing, stick handling and scoring chances showed how the Tyke B team are using teamwork to achieve winning opportunities.

The Tyke B Jr. Gryphons are excited to play their next playoff game next Sunday against the Oakville Rangers.
