Gryphons Win Against Top Team!!!
Today the Tyke B Gryphons played the #1 ranked team the Hespeler Shamrocks winning 4-3!
There was focus and determination in the air as the Tyke B Gryphons hit the ice hard in the first period winning battles and keeping the puck in the opposition's end to score 2 goals. Colin Chate and Avery Smith scored the first 2 goals of the game with assists from Austyn Lamorea and Jonathan Berthiaume. The Gryphons worked hard to only allow 3 shots on net with great saves by Trenton Goode keeping the score to a 2-0 game going into the 2nd.
In the 2nd period the Gryphons continued to overpower the top Hespeler team by scoring another 2 goals both by Colin Chate with assists by Aiden Wamboldt and Tyler Kelly. Although the Gryphon defense were all over the Hespeler Shamrocks, unfortunately a goal from the opposition team brought the score to 4-1 going into the 3rd period.
In the 3rd the Gryphons rallied together working hard to keep the puck out of their end and restrict the number of shots on net. With an unlucky bounce, the Hespeler Shamrocks scored their 2nd goal bringing the score to 4-2 with 5 mins left in the 3rd. With only 12 seconds left, Hespeler were able to score their 3rd goal of the game after pulling their goalie. Seconds left, the Gryphons were able to keep the puck out of their end winning 4-3! Anderson Mau made a number of great saves including a breakaway that would have tied the game.
A standing ovation goes to Colin Chate who had his first hat trick of the season!!!!
Special shout out goes to Banin Howden and Ayden Lamorea who both scored during games played earlier in the week.
