Winning Streak Continues For The Jr. Gryphons!!!
This week the Tyke B Jr. Gryphons beat the first place team the Centre Wellington Fusion twice and the Milton Winterhawks bringing their winning streak to 3 games and counting....

It was a very exciting week for the Jr. Gryphons winning 2-0 against the Centre Wellington Fusion this past Sunday and again today winning 2-1! The Gryphons were ready to take on the current 1st place team again today when they hit the ice in the 1st period determined not to allow any scoring opportunities for the opposition. With only allowing a few shots on net, the Gryphon defence were all over the Fusion team shooting the puck out of their end, up the boards and passing to the forward lines for a number of great shots on net. As a result, a late goal in the 1st period was scored by Cole Gibson off a great rebound shot from Colin Chate and assisted by Andrew Brown. The Gryphons continued to dominate in the 2nd period not allowing the Fusion to tie up the game going into the 3rd. With 5 minutes left in the 3rd, the Fusion were able to score and tie up the game 1-1. It was only seconds later when Ayden Lamorea scored for the Gryphons giving them a 2-1 lead. With determination to win, the Gryphons were able to keep the Fusion team out of their end even when the Fusion pulled their goalie desperate to tie the game. The game ended and the Gryphons charged onto the ice excited that they won back-to-back games again the current 1st place team!!

On Friday evening the Gryphons played the Milton Winterhawks winning 2-1. The Gryphons started very strong in the 1st period scoring both their goals within 3 mins of the start of the game. The 1st Gryphon goal was scored by Cole Gibson off a breakaway from a outstanding pass made by Andrew Brown. Only a minute later Colin Chate scored the Gryphon 2nd goal assisted by Tyler Kelly and Nash Willsie. The Winterhawks stepped up their game play by battling and changeling the Gryphons making sure no other goals were to be scored in the first. In the 2nd period the Gryphons made a number of great shots on net but did allow the Winterhawks to score 1 goal late in the period. It was a very exciting 3rd period as both teams worked hard to score a goal but it was the unstoppable Gryphons that were able to hold onto the lead to win the game 2-1.

A special shout out goes to the Gryphon goalies Trenton Goode and Anderson Mau who made remarkable saves resulting in only allowing 2 goals in 3 games!!!!

The Gryphon defence get a standing ovation for their strong positional play, winning battles and moving the puck out of the Gryphon zone. The Gryphon defence have come a long way proving they are a force to be reckoned with!!

The Gryphons play their next playoff game when they host the Ancaster Avalanche on March 1st @ 7:00pm looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games!!!!
