Atom AAA Update
With only 1 game now remaining in their SCTA regular season, the Atom AAA Gryphs have peeled off an impressive few weeks of hockey.

After a home loss to Brampton 2-1 on January 17th, the boys went on a 5 game winning streak which saw the Gryphs beat the top team in the league, Halton 4-1 on the road, sweep a double-header in Buffalo 4-2 and 6-1 respectively, battle out a strong effort against Southern Tier 2-1 on home ice, and finally a 4-1 victory against the visiting Highlanders from Grey-Bruce. The team climbed the standings significantly and managed to draw within 2 points of Southern Tier, which set-up another important battle against the Admirals on Saturday down in Crystal Ridge.
The Gryphs came out very strong in the first period and took a quick 2-0 lead on the home team. Goals were scored by #80 Mackie and #44 Smith on some sweet passing and puck possession plays. An early PP goal in the second period by STA seemingly took the wind out of the Gryphs sail as the Admirals captained the ship the rest of the way on route to a 4-2 victory against the Gryphons. One day later on home ice, the Gryphons were unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities and fell 3-1 to Burlington. The lone Gryphs scorer was #88 Harris.
Regardless of the recent losses on the scoresheet, the Gryphs are playing some strong hockey and are looking forward to playoff hockey. The final league game for the Atom AAA Gryphs is Wednesday February 7th in Burlington. The SCTA playoff tourney will go February 23 & 24th in Brampton.
