Gryphons Earn Silver At OMHA's In Aurora
After winning their OMHA semi-final 7 points to 1 over the Brampton 45's, the Gryphons qualified for the OMHA Championship weekend hosted by York-Simcoe at St Andrews College in Aurora.

The Gryphons opened the tournament by beating the previously undefeated Oakville Rangers 2-1 before falling 3-0 in game 2 to the host York-Simcoe Express. On day 2 the Gryphons fell just short, losing 3-2 to a hard working Quinte Red Devils team making their final round robin game a must win. The team rallied and came back from a 4-3 deficit in the third period with 2 powerplay goals and a shorthanded insurance goal to beat a strong Barrie team 6-4. Getting the help they needed in the other games the Gryphons clinched a spot in the Gold medal game on Sunday, setting up a rematch with the York-Simcoe Express.

The Gryphons gave a great effort and left it all out on the ice. Skating to a 1-1 tie in the first half of the game, the host team would score late in the second and add another in the third while surviving several good scoring chances by Guelph and hold on for a 3-1 final. The boys should be very proud to be the OMHA Silver Medalists and the last team standing from the SCTA! Furthermore, the Gryphons will enter next weeks OHL Cup as the #2 seed from the OMHA. Great job boys we are proud of each and every one of you!

Special thanks to all the volunteers from York-Simcoe who put on a first class event all weekend, it was an experience we will never forget!
