Atom AA Blanked By Eagles Gold
The Atom AA's headed to Burlington on Thursday February 1 to battle the Eagles Gold looking to punch their ticket to the OMHA Quarter Finals. Unfortunately, the Gryphons came out on the wrong end of a 2-0 score and suffered their first defeat in playoff action.
Both teams battled thru a scoreless first period. Midway thru the second, Burlington got on the board as an Eagles forward walked thru the team from the neutral zone and zipped a low wrister far post for the opening tally of the contest. The score stood 1-0 after two periods of play.
With just under 8 minutes remaining, Burlington banged in a rebound for an insurance tally and skated home with a 2-0 victory.
The loss leaves both Burlington and Guelph with identical 4-1 records. Both teams conclude round robin action on Sunday February 4th with Guelph travelling to Flamborough looking for a crucial win to finish with a 5-1 record and no worse than a tie for first place.
