Atom AA Score Big Victory Over Brampton
The Gryphon Atom AA's used a three goal third period to pull away from the Brampton 45's for a 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in Tri County playoff action.

Brampton got on the board first.  Just 2:53 into the contest,  Brampton jumped on a loose puck on a goal mouth scramble and jammed it in for an early 1-0 lead.  3:54 later,  Matthew Stam got open in front of the Brampton net and slid in a backhander to even the score.  Adam Smith and Tanner Bothwell drew assists on the play.  The score stood 1-1 after one period of play.

The winning goal came 2:01 into the second period.  A hard forecheck by Landon Mitchell and Ty Thompson forced a turnover in the Brampton end.   The puck was worked back to defenseman Nathan Schlitt who drove a shot on goal and Ryder Burns was parked out front to smack home the rebound for a 2-1 lead.   The score remained 2-1 at the second intermission.

The Gryphons added to their lead 56 seconds into the period.   Defenseman Max Grimwood with a hard pinch at the Brampton blueline kept the puck in and Grimwood battled along the boards before gaining control behind the Brampton net and wrapping the puck around into the short side to give the Gryphons a 3-1 lead. Zac Conroy picked up a helper on the play.  With 7:14 to go while on the powerplay,  Tanner Bothwell entered the zone and moved the puck to Landon Mitchell who fed a cross ice pass to a waiting Logan Biser at the top of the circles.  Biser unleased a one-timer slapper that found nothing but mesh and the Gryphons had a 4-1 lead.   58 seconds later while on another powerplay,  Biser and Bothwell worked the puck to Landon Mitchell and Mitchell walked in and ripped a bar down wrister for a four goal cushion.   The final score would be 5-1 for the hometown Gryphies.

Ale Gruosso picked up the win between the pipes.

The Gryphons (2-1-0) return to action on Tuesday night when the visit the Halton Hills Thunder.
