Gryphons Kick-Off Regular Season
The Guelph Minor Midget AA Gryphons kicked off the regular season last week in a busy start to the 2017 season. Challenged by 3 consecutive road games to start the year the Gryphons came out strong. 



The Minor Midget AA Gryphons' kicked off the 2017 Regular Season Monday September 25th with a tough match-up against the Burlington Eagles Gold. The Gryphons' found themselves in early penalty trouble spotting Burlington a 3-1 lead in the first period. The Eagles continued to pressure the Gryphons, and despite a good effort, ended up securing a 5-1 win.

On Friday September 29th the Gryphons' headed to Orangeville for a late contest with the Flyers. The Flyers came out quick scoring early to put the Gryphons behind to start the game. Backstopped by some key saves in the period the Gryphons responded with 4 goals in the and never looked back. Liam Nolan & Hunter Parnell led the Gryphons' up front with 2 goals each, and were supported by a full team effort to secure the 8-4 win. 

On Monday October 2nd the Gryphons headed to Halton Hills for a rematch of the 2016 Bantam AA TCMHL finals. Halton Hills opened the scoring early but the Gryphons battled back scoring minutes later and taking a tie hockey game into the first intermission. The Gryphons came out fast in the second period scoring two goals to take a 3-1 lead into the third, where strong goaltending held off the Thunder attack, and Ethan Bizjak scored his second of the game to seal the victory for the Gryphons 4-1.


The Gryphons (2-1-0) return home this weekend to open the home schedule this weekend with two big match-ups. Burlington Eagles Blue (1-0-2) on Friday night at the West End Rec-Centre where they look to continue their strong play. In a busy home weekend the Gryphons also play a big divisional rival on Sunday afternoon vs Garden City (1-1-1) at The Sleeman Centre.
