Minor Atom A Advance to the Tri-County Finals with a 4-1 Win Over the Eagles
Excitement was high at the old Centennial barn as the Gryphons faced the Eagles in a do or die match-up. The determination was palpable with every move the Gryphons made. Madden played outstanding in net! We had D-men Duffy, Kranendonk and Van Dam physically throwing themselves in front of the puck as well as Stafford, Peteranac and Southern owning their corners and boards. Forwards Bunnaman, Boon, Dubuc & Lodder were back-checking like champs breaking up Eagle plays and Georges & Fletcher battling every chance they got. Scoring started in the 1st when Smith's smooth pass landed on the stick of Robertson who went top shelf! Moving into the 2nd there was a dirty scrum in front of the Eagles net which resulted in Gryphons moving into the
lead (Robertson? Smith? from Redford? Duffy? - depends where you were sitting!)** Regardless, it proved to be the winning goal. Redford (from Duffy) provided some breathing room in the 3rd to make it 3-1 followed a few minutes later by Robertson (Smith, Van Dam) rounding out the scoring at 4-1.
