Novice AE are Powerplay Champions!
What a weekend for the Novice AE Players!!!!

The 46th Annual Powerplay Tournament saw the team up against many opponents they had never before faced. The uncertainty was palpable before they hit the ice on Friday morning, but in true Gryphon fashion the team gave it their all and defeated their first opponent, Erie North Shore, 6-0!

Next up, the team faced the Orangeville Flyers, a team from their Tricounty League. With the confidence and adrenaline from the first game, the Gryphons took the second game 4-1.

Saturday was a gruelling day of hockey as the team faced the Kent Cobras and Lasalle Sabres in the round robin. Both teams gave the Gryphons a run, with each game resulting in a tie 2-2 and 3-3 respectively.

With a result of 2-0-2 and 15 goals scored the Novice AE Gryphons placed second in the round robin, securing them a spot in the semi-finals!

Sunday morning saw us face the Kent Cobras again, this time the team came out on top, winning the game 3-1, and sending the team to the finals again!!!

The Championship game was against the Kitchener Jr Rangers, and the players were excited to be playing in another tournament final. The Gryphons knew they had to dig deep and give it their all, and that is exactly what they did. Through team play (passing, positioning and selflessness), commitment to the team concepts, and of course living up to their motto of being the hardest working team, the Novice AE Gryphons defeated Kitchener 5-1 earning them the title of Powerplay Champions!!

This was the third tournament for the Novice AE team, and their third time to the finals. The players should be beyond proud of their development so far this season, the hard work they put into each and every practice, game, drill or shift, and of the success they have earned not just this weekend, but throughout the season thus far.

The Novice AE Gryphons would like the thank all of their families, friends, and supporters who came to cheer them on this weekend. Your support means a lot to the players. Also, a big thank you to our sponsors who allow our team to enter these tournaments.

It was a hard fought battle this weekend against some amazing teams,a big Congrats to the Novice AE Powerplay Champs!
