Terrific Effort in Game 2 Falls Short For Minor Atom AE
The Gryphon Minor Atom AE's hosted the Barrie Colts on Sunday afternoon in Game 2 of their OMHA Final series.  Despite a fantastic effort by the home town squad in front of a packed arena, a late tally by the visitors was enough to lift them to a 2-1 victory for the second time in two days.

Both teams came out battling hard but it was Barrie that struck first.  5:03 into the contest, Barrie broke in and snapped home a wrist shot for a 1-0 lead. Barrie would carry that one goal advantage into the first intermission.

4:26 into the second, Guelph's Liam Bendo powered his way down the boards and cut in towards  the Barrie net for a deke.  As Bendo was about to deke, he lost control of the puck, confusing the Barrie netminder and it rolled into the far corner of the net much to the delight of the boisterous Guelph fans.  The score remained tied 1-1 after two periods of play.

The two squads battled tooth and nail for the entire third period.   With 1:00 showing on the clock,  Barrie jumped on a bad bounce and quickly slipped it into the net for the game winning goal.  Guelph never quit and had several chances with the goalie pulled but were unable to bang home the equalizer.

Guelph now trails the best of five series 2-0.  Game 3 returns to Guelph this Friday evening.  Puck drop is 6:45 at the WERC.
