Minor Peewee AA Doubled Up By Flamborough
The Gryphon Minor Peewee AA traveled to Flamborough on Saturday afternoon but came home on the wrong end of a 4-2 score in their first road game of the regular season.
The Gryphons had several scoring chances in the early going but were unable to convert and the first period ended in a scoreless draw.
Six minutes into the second period, the Gryphons went on the power play. The Gryphons moved the puck smartly for several moments and Tyler Chadwick passed back to a wide open Nolan Chabot. Chabot ripped a drive on net that Chadwick got his stick on to deflect into the net and Guelph took a 1-0 lead. 3 minutes later Flamborough evened the score on a power play of their own. Then two minutes later, the Sabres poked in a loose puck in front and the second period ended with a Flamborough holding a 2-1 lead.
The Gryphons tied the score 26 seconds into the third period. Again on the power play, Mattew Stam moved the puck back to defenseman Nathan Schlitt. Schlitt walked in and drove a shot into the lower corner off a Flamborough stick and the scored was tied at 2-2. With 7:55 left, the Sabres scored the game winner on a shot from the point and then added the back breaker five minutes later to insure the victory. The final score was 4-2.
The Gryphons (1-1-0) return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Niagara Falls to face the Flyers.
