Minor Peewee AA Out Gun Flyers
The Guelph Gryphon Minor Peewee AA's hosted the Orangeville Flyers on Monday evening and scored a well deserved 6-4 victory to Bowen division action.
The Gryphons jumped out of the gate and took control. Just 39 seconds into the contest, Guelph controlled the puck in the Flyer offensive zone and Koen Smith worked the puck back to Nolan Chabot. Chabot ripped a drive that found the top corner of the net and the Gryphons led 1-0. 7:23 into the opening frame, Zac Conroy zipped a shot from the point that was tipped thru the goalies' five hole by Ryder Burns to make the score 2-0 in favour of the Gryphies after one period of play.
3:12 into the second period Guelph increased the lead to 3-0 when Olan Norton found Tyler Chadwick with a pass out front and Chadwick ripped it past the Flyer goalie with no hesitation. Orangeville refused to quit and scored scored twice in two minutes to make the score 3-2 at the second intermission.
Orangeville tied the score 3-3 27 seconds into the third. Two minutes later Tanner Bothwell put Guelph up 4-3 as he banged in a loose puck on a scramble out front of the Orangeville net. Tyler Chadwick drew an assist on the play. Orangeville came back to tied the score 4-4 with 7:47 remaining in the third but Olan Norton cashed in with a short handed tally with 4:35 remaining in the contest as he walked out of the Flyer corner and beat the goalie with a quick shot. Minutes later, Ryder Burns scored his second of the night to add some insurance off a goal mouth scramble to make the final 6-4 in favour of the Gryphons.
