Atom AE Squeak By Woolwich
The Atom AE  Gryphons travelled to the historical St. Jacobs Arena on Saturday afternoon to battle the Woolwich Wildcats.  In an aggressive, tight checking affair, a powerplay goal early in the third period was the difference as Guelph came home with a 3-2 victory.

After a scoreless first period,  Woolwich opened the scoring 1:40 into the second period.  1:02 later, Peyton Smith tied the score as he used his open teammate in front as a decoy and stuffed the puck in the short side to knot the game up at one apiece.  Woolwich kept pressing and a odd bounce left a Woolwich forward with a wide open net with 5:43 remaining in the second.  Just 14 seconds later, Guelph tied the game one again as Peyton Smith fed Kenny Beynon in the Woolwich crease and Beynon jammed it home to tie the score 2-2.

3:42 into the third while on a four minute powerplay,  Nolan Lodder came down the ice on a 2 on 1 break with Connor Laskowski.   Lodder faked a pass and then ripped a wrist shot in the open corner for the game winning goal.  Laskowski picked up an assist on the play.

Max Heroux picked up the win between the pipes.

Guelph returns to action this Thursday when they host the first place Oakville Rangers.
