Rosedale Devils “Can’t Touch This” Guelph Team as the Gryphons use their “2 Hype Feet” to Skate to a 7-2 Victory
Perhaps it was the funky cool 90’s beats culminating with Mitchell’s bright white vintage style “I’m Too Tight for You”, make shift Jersey (I hope there’s lesson learned on that topic), but the tone of the game was definitely set on the opening puck drop and favored the Gryphons from start to finish.

Sheridan got the starting nod for the Gryphons and was fantastic out of the gate turning away every shot he faced.  Marshall drew a 2-minute interference penalty early in the 1st, however, this Gryphon’s penalty kill looked more like a power play as Guelph commanded the puck possession and with 15 seconds left in the kill, it was Ramirez that stormed the Devils net and slipped the puck past the keeper to get Guelph on the board 1-0.  “Yo sound the bells school is in sucker, u can't touch this”

Cold coolin in the 1st and were lookin for some action, and it’s Doern off to the sin bin for a 2 minute in fraction… (The first of his career, Tip’o the cap to ya!) Back to the Penalty Kill and again the Gryphons dominated puck possession killing the penalty to maintain the 1-0 lead.

With 43 seconds remaining in the 1st, Mitchell chipped the puck past the defender in the neutral zone with Doern taking over and connecting with Ramirez who stared down the Devil goalie as if to say “I told you u homeboy u can't touch this” and buried it for a 2-0 lead to end the 2nd period.

The Gryphons passing game was stellar on this night and continued into the 2nd period with the Gryphons on the powerplay to start.  Cycling the puck around and back to the point for those heavy shots from Pearson and Irwin kept the Devils on their heels.  As the powerplay continued with the Gryphon’s unrelenting pressure deep in the Devil’s zone, Bradshaw hammered a shot that Mitchell picked up off the rebound in the crease and fed to Ramirez directly in front of the net “Look in my eyes man u can't touch this!”… Ramirez scores his 2nd of the game increasing the Gryphons lead to 3-0.

While the Defense was continually tested, the Devils ultimately weren’t able to match the physical presence of our big boys, nor the Speed of Cheam and Hughes and eventually Sheridan gave way to Kurt unblemished on the score sheet.

“Woah, we're half way there”

With 3:56 left in the 2nd once again it’s Bradshaw connecting with Amidon who hammered it home for a 4-0 lead “Yeah that's how we're livin' and you know u can't touch this”!!

Kurt was tested several times and late in the 2nd, faced a 3 on 1 “You'll probably get hyped boy 'cause you know you can't u can't touch this” but stone walled that Devil effort and preserved the 4-0 lead to end the 2nd.

-----
For some reason Thompson’s Dad, Mike, thought it would be best to changing things up (with the score 4-0) and sit with the fans after standing for the duration of the game prior to that.  After receiving some friendly criticism from his fellow Guelph contingent, Mike assured his peers and said “Take my hand, we'll make it I swear…” to which we responded ”Woah, livin' on a prayer!"

Attention back to the Ice as the Gryphon’s said “Ring the bell school's back in” and off with the 3rd period.

With some mounting frustration from the devils, play started to get a little more chippy and where there’s chippy play, you’re sure to find Marshall sticking up for his team.  After being assessed a 2 minute (offsetting) roughing penalty, rumor has it that he was heard saying to himself “you live for the fight when that’s all that you’ve got” as he returned home to the sin bin.

Nothing doing on that coincidental minor, but it was still the Gryphons alone in the drivers seat as Funky Eric May(dina) found Griswold in front of the devil’s net “Why you standing there man u can't touch this” who roofed the Grypon’s 5th goal of the game at 9:31 in the 3rd (5-0)

As the minutes continued to tick down, the Devils were finally able to get on the board with a blind spinner of a shot right next to Kurt that I think was in before Kurt knew it was shot. (5-1)

With a robust 5-1 lead, the Gryphons could have resorted to a more defensive style to maintain the lead, “But Like Mick Jagger said I can’t get no satisfaction” and it was Marshall proving that the “fight is not ALL that he’s got” netting a beauty from his homeboy Amidon to restore the 5 goal lead
(6-1)

More quality goaltending by Kurt making not only 1st but also 2nd and in some cases the 3rd save on a drive which had the Guelph Fan’s rock’n while the Gryphon’s continued to role. At one point, Bradshaw and Irwin were seen grov’n on the bench to MC Hammer and Tone Loc (and other 90’s tracks which pressed all the nostalgic buttons of their parents).

The Devils managed another goal beating Kurt who was unable to gain control of a bouncing puck that “really, really, really went zigazig ah” (Sorry bout that one Jason).  That goal may have ignited some Devil fans as one got up and strolled over to the other side of th’arena, he asked us guys, "Why you so fly?"  we said “Marshall from Kaiden…ah” (mic drop)

That beauty made the final score 7-2 in what would prove to be the Gryphon’s best team effort of the year on both sides of the puck and in the crease.  Not to mention one of the most fun games for the fans to watch and groove to.  Thank you Rosedale (and Carter’s Jersey) for the all around retro experience.

The Gryphons win their 2nd straight and improved to 3-3 on the Season.

Next game is a rematch with Halton Hills in Guelph on Dec 17.  GO GRYPHONS!
