Love for the game of hockey includes learning and understanding some of the history. Every Canadian hockey player needs to know the story of the 1972 Canada-Russia series. It created a legacy of hockey in Canada unlike any other event.
Some of the players apparently don't know about the '72 Summit Series. I'm looking at you, Luke - Sharks? C'mon, man! ;o)
The series was extremely intense due to the battle for international hockey supremacy and the Cold War between U.S./Canada and Russia. The intensity flooded out onto the ice, into the dressing rooms and into the hockey offices. Some parts of the series were far from among Canada's finest moments, but the end result was legendary in Canada and in hockey.
