Minor Midget AA Wins Gold in Waterloo
With a fierceness on the ice, the Guelph Jr Gryphons Minor Midget AA team went undefeated in 6 games to take the gold cup at the Waterloo Memorial tournament this past weekend.

With solid competition provided by teams from across Southern Ontario, the Jr Gryphons opened up their series against the London Jr Mustangs Purple with a 6-0 win. Friday’s evening game saw the team play the Woodstock Navy Vets, ending with a 3-1 win. On Saturday, the Jr Gryphons pulled past the Kitchener Jr Rangers with a 3-2 victory. The final team standing in the way of a place in the semi-finals was the Duffield Devils. The team played hard and rallied around each other to wrap up their round-robin with a 3-1 win.

The semi-final game was another face-off between Guelph and Kitchener, with Guelph pulling off a 3-1 win. This set up the Jr Gryphons to play the Don Mills Mustangs in the finals. This was a game full of great chances for both teams and huge saves by the goalies. At the end, it was the Jr Gryphons victorious, 4-1.

The series was full of replay-worthy saves on behalf of our goalies, Colin Bray and Rowan Boothe, solid defense, and forwards driving to the net. Congratulations players and coaching staff on your well-earned win.
