Gryphons Spin the 45's!
The Gryphons returned to the ice on Monday night for their third game in 4 days and remained undefeated in the season after earning an 8-3 victory in Brampton.

The feisty Gryphon squad jumped to a quick start. Just over one minute into the game, Caleb Davison ripped a high wrist shot over the shoulder of the 45s net minder to open the scoring. Assisting on the play was Michael Kusiak. However, after the quick start, the Gryphons sat back, letting Brampton dictate the play for several minutes. Their persistence paid off, when just over four minutes later, they tied the game at one which is how the first period ended.

Early in the second, the Gryphons would jump to the lead never surrendering it again. In a dominating 30 seconds of action, the team netted three goals and chased the 45's goalie from the game. First it was Davison picked up his second goal of the game, with assists going to Peyton Smith and Kusiac. Just 12 seconds later, off of a centre ice face off, Jackson Byard broke into the 45's zone, and while being hauled to the ice, slid the puck to Milan Wilson who roofed it over the glove of the goalie to make the score 3-1. With Brampton back on their heels, the Gryphons struck again just 10 seconds later. This time, Vid Peteranac fed the puck ahead off the faceoff to a streaking Beynon who buried the puck above the blocker of the 45's goalie, making the score 4-1.

After several minutes of scoreless back and forth action, the Gryphons resumed the scoring. With just under three minutes left in the second, Beynon struck again off a feed from Byard and Peteranac. One minute later, Peyton Markwood got in on the action, hammering home a bouncing puck in front of the Brampton, with Owen McNamee drawing the assist.

While the Gryphons thought they were home and cooled, the 45s struck right back. First with just over a minute to go in the second they closed the gap to 6-2. Then early in the third, they made in 6-3. That was as close as they got. The Gryphons closed out the period by scoring two goals in the closing four minutes. First, Wilson came up with his second of the game in a goal mouth scramble, getting assists from Byard and Chace Roffel. Then, while shorthanded, Conner Laskowski, closed out the scoring by taking a pass from Nate Taylor, flying down the left wall, blowing by the 45s defenceman, and burying the puck in the top corner for a buzzer beater. Kusiac also drew an assist on the play.

The Gryphons look to extend their winning streak to start the Tri-County season when they return to the ice on the weekend in back to back games against the Erin-Hillsburgh Devils.
