The Peewee Select Gryphons hosted the Woodstock Navy Vets last night at Centennial arena. Woodstock started off the scoring in the first period but Guelph answered in the second with a shot from defenceman Jason Pearson (#4) assisted by Eilan Townsley (#26).
Goaltender Neil Kasaboski stopped an entourage of shots before the Vets were able to tie it up in the third. The Gryphons were absolutely relentless with the pressure in the opposition end and it payed off! With just 22 seconds left on the clock, defenceman Jason Pearson (#4) buried his second of the night, with an assist from Jacob Rowe Frias (#67). They held on for the win!
When I asked Jason how it felt to score the game winner he replied "It felt good!" This win will make the team 6-1 as they head to Fergus tomorrow night to take on the Centre Wellington Fusion. I was able to catch up with Head Coach, Michael Thomson, after the game and he was especially impressed with the boys determination through the last 5 mins of the game. Keep up the good work Gryphons!
