U15 AA Open Season With Shutout Victory
The U15 AA Gryphons travelled to Georgetown on Monday night to open the 2021-2022 regular season and came away with a 4-0 victory over the Halton Hills Thunder.

The Gryphons opened the scoring 2:32 into the contest as a Chance Piotto pass from behind the net deflected off the skate of Koen Smith into the back of the net.   The goal was allowed to stand as referees determined their was no deliberate kicking motion by Smith.  The score stood 1-0 after one period of play.

In the second, Guelph added to their lead.  First,  Will Ross finished a passing play off from linemates Zac Conroy and Addison Murphy-Rodgers at the 1:16 mark to make the score 2-0.  Then at the 7:56 mark,  Calvin Cahill snuck a long shot over the goalies shoulder to increase the lead to 3-0.  Sam Savery drew an assist on the play.

Guelph completed the scoring at the 9:18 mark of the third as Andrew McMillan used his speed to gain control of the puck in the neutral zone and feather a perfect pass over to Calvin Cahill on a 2-1 and Cahill made no mistake for his second of the contest.   The game would end with a 4-0 score.

Logan Stevenson earned the shutout in the Guelph net, making 15 saves.

Guelph (1-0-0) return to action this Saturday when they host Burlington Gold.
