Day 1 of the Huronia Tournament
Game 1: Mooretown Jr Flags Oct 22, 2021.  2-1 Win.  It was a real nail-biter!
Game 2: Whitby Wildcats Oct 22, 2021.  2-2 Tie.  Tough start, great finish!

Game 2: Whitby Wildcats Oct 22, 2021.  2-2 Tie.

This game started with a mysterious holding call against Noah, which led to a bouncing puck goal for Whitby after Sergio knocked a couple shots clear.  Gryphons put the pressure on up the ice for most of the rest of the first, which ended 1-0.

An unlucky turn led to goal 2 for Whitby before the Gryphons started pouring it on again.  A defensive turnover (wish I noticed who) sprung Ty streaking up the ice, where he fired a beauty pass off to Nolan S for the first goal of his Gryphons comeback.  A few minutes later, Nolan was potting his second off a fat rebound from Max’s blast on net. 2-2 after 2.

Sergio had all Wildcat shots locked down in the third, and the Gryphons kept firing them at the Wildcats sizable keeper.  Nolan B and Evan were trying them low and high from the points, but he had a sharp glove.  Will had a dandy of a blast to the far top corner on an open right wing streak and the keeper was just able to get the butt of his stick on it to keep it out of the top corner.

A satisfying 2-2 finish, though we think we had the shots for a win.  “It feels better to get a tie when we are the ones that come from behind.”

Game 1: Mooretown Jr Flags Oct 22, 2021.  2-1 Win.

Cobbled together from various sources present at the game…

Other than the first few minutes, this was a two-way game most of the way through, unlike our previous two games where the Gryphons controlled things early.  I’m also told Jesse’s goal to make it 1-0 was a cannon, and the Flags keeper didn’t stand a chance. With Parker standing up to all shots, the first period ended 1-0.

The Gryphons kept the pressure on, but the Flags got a goal back and the second, with some big hits between the teams; period 2 ended 1-1.

Ty hit the 5-hole for the winner in the third for the Gryphons, and the only thing left to do was cheer with Parker for the win.

More details to be added if I get them.
