U15 AAs are Tri County Champions!!
What a season the Guelph Gryphons U15 AAs have had...thus far!

This year the U15 AAs went 26-3-3 in the regular season, won 2 of 3 tournaments, went 6-0 through the round robin, and then beat 2 of the top 5 teams in Ontario to not only book their tickets to the OMHA Championships but be crowned the Tri County Champions!!

In the semi final game vs Burlington Gold, the West End 2 arena was jam packed with family, friends, and Jr Gryphons cheering on the U15 AAs. The Gryphs dominated most of the first 2 periods but went into the 3rd tied 1-1. Early and often they would excite the crowd by putting 3 goals in to take a commanding 4-1 lead and the W. This game clinched a spot in Kingston for the Gryphs at the OMHA Championships.

Not done there, the U15 AAs wanted to take down their biggest rival Halton Hills Thunder. The game was played in front of a full house at Victoria Rd Arena. The crowd buzzed right from the opening faceoff and it didn't take long for the Gryphons to capitalize. Just under 3 mins into the game the Gryphs would open the scoring igniting the hometown fans! As the 1st period wound down Halton would get that one back. But before the period was over the Gryphs re-took the lead, 2-1.
Heading into the 2nd the Gryphs had momentum and again scored early taking what seemed like a commanding 3-1 lead. However, Halton wouldn't quit and scored back to back power play goals to tie it up and swing the momentum in their direction.
The 3rd period was back and forth and kept the nervous crowd on the edge of their seats. With under a minute remaining in the game, a screened point shot goes off Halton's defenceman and into their own net, 4-3 Gryphons. Halton would call a timeout and pull their goalie off the centre ice faceoff. That plan didn't work and the Gryphons scored in the empty net sealing the 5-3 victory! Thank you to all the family and friends who came out to cheer us on!

Now, the regular season champs, the Tri County Champions, the ones known as the Guelph Gryphons U15 AAs, head to the OMHA Championships as the top seeded team.

Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a fantastic season! But we're not done yet...go get those #Redhats boys!! Good luck in Kingston.
