U13 AA Gryphons are Warrior Tournament Champs
Congratulations to the U13 AA Gryphons on their well deserved tournament victory at the Garden City Warriors Tournament this past weekend. Our Gryphons played a solid team effort from start to finish and should be very proud of this accomplishment!
The kids came out flying in the first game Friday against a decent West Hill squad. Despite the unique dressing room situation, the group remained focused and won 8-2. The afternoon game did not produce the same result unfortunately as they were handed their first loss of the weekend at the hands of the host Garden City team on the back of a stellar 3-0 shutout performance by their goalie. Luckily the loss was quickly forgotten as the group got the chance to go back to the hotel and blow off some steam via an epic game of manhunt!
The next morning produced one of the wildest games I have ever seen. The kids came out with purpose against an undefeated Orangeville team and came away with their second W of the tournament 6-1. They then capped off the round robin with a dominant 9-0 performance against a unique opponent all the way in from Conception Bay, NFLD to punch their ticket to the finals with a record of 3-1-0.
Championship Sunday provided a chance at redemption for our group as they got a rematch against the undefeated host Garden City Falcons. Both teams played a fantastic hard fought game, but the Gryphons persevered and came away victorious on a 1-0 win with the lone goal scored in the first minute of the 3rd.
Congratulations again to your U13 AA Gryphons on a great team victory to finish off a successful season! Thanks to all the hockey families, coaches, and most of all players, for helping provide a memorable season that we should all be able to look back on for years to come! Stick taps for all of you!
