GAME LENGTHS
Round Robin
Warm-up 2 minutes
Game Time (U10, U11) 10 – 10 – 12 minutes stop time periods
Game Time (U12, U13) 10 – 10 – 15 minutes stop time periods
Semi-finals and FINALS All Semi-finals and finals games on Sunday
Warm-up 3 minutes
Game Time (All Divisions) 10 – 10 - 15 minutes stop time periods
Ice will be resurfaced at the end of every game.
Quick Reference
Scheduled game start times are approximate. Your team must be ready to play 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time, except for the first game of the day.
Division Standings: The tournament standings will be determined in the following orders, Game Points ( 2 – win, 1 – tie, 0 – loss ), ties will be determined by the tie breaker rules as described in the tie breaker format. The website standings are configured to reflect our tournament points and tie-breaking rules and tie breaking
Mercy Rule
If the goal differential is five goals in the third period, the clock shall change to running time. If subsequently the margin is reduced to less than five goals respectively, the clock will revert back to stop time. During running time, minor penalties will be 3:00 minutes and major penalties, 7:30 minutes. The mercy rule is in effect for all games in the round robin play ONLY.
Time-Outs
There will be one 30 second time-out per team per game including round robin and elimination rounds.
Overtime
Elimination is only applicable for semi-final and final games. The following format is to be used:
- Teams play a five-minute overtime period of 3-on-3 hockey
- The OT period is played sudden-death style, so the first team to score wins
- After the five minutes, if no one has scored, the game goes to a shootout
- Shootout
- Each team selects three shooters to go for the three rounds of the shootout. Each team shoots once per round
- The team with the most goals scored after the three rounds wins the game If the teams score the same amount of goals in the three rounds, then it goes round by round until one team scores and the other does not
- No player may shoot twice until all players, excluding goalies, have participated in the shootout.
Tie-Breaking Formula
Tie-breaking and the determination of the round robin standings will be based, in order, on:
1) Points: Total number of points for all games played in the round robin
2) Points Between: (Head to Head) when two teams ONLY are tied in points, the game played between those tied teams
3) Least Goals Against: Total scores against in all games played
4) Differential: The best ratio of "Goals For/(Goals For + Goals Against)" in all round robin games
5) Most Goals for: Total scores for in all games played
6) Coin Toss: A toss of a coin by the tournament chairperson. (teams do not have to be present, the results will be posted on the website.)
