ROUND ROBIN PLAY

 

·      Warm up 2 minutes

·      (U9, U10)  10 – 10 – 10 minute stop time periods

·      (U11, U12, U13)  10 – 10 – 15 Minutes stop time periods

 

 

30 Second Timeout PER TEAM

 

Ice will be resurfaced at the end of every game.

 

Mercy Rule

If the goal differential is five goals in the third period, the clock shall change to running time. If subsequently the margin is reduced to less than five goals respectively, the clock will revert back to stop time. During running time, U10-U13 minor penalties will be 3:00 minutes and major penalties, 7:30 minutes. The mercy rule is in effect for all round robin and elimination games.

 


Semi-finals and FINALS

 

·       Warm-up 3 minutes
   (U9)  10 – 10 – 10 minute stop time periods

·       (U10 to U13) (10 – 10 – 15) minutes stop time periods

 

30 Sec. TIMEOUTS ( 1 per team ) including overtime

 

Overtime

Elimination is only applicable for semi-final and final games. The following format is to be used:

  • Teams play a five-minute overtime period of 3-on-3 hockey
  • The OT period is played sudden-death style, first team to score wins
  • After the five minutes, if no winner has been determined, the game goes to a shootout

 

  • Shootout – (1 shooter at a time with Home team shooting 2nd)
  • First Round - Each team selects three shooters to shoot.
  • The team with the most goals scored wins the game,
  • Second Round - if the teams score the same number of goals in the first rounds, then it goes round by round until one team scores and the other does not
    • No player may shoot twice until all players, excluding goalies, have participated in the shootout.

Tie-Breaking Formula

Tie-breaking and the determination of the round robin standings will be based, in order, on:

1)    Points: Total number of points for all games played in the round robin

2)    Points Between: (Head to Head) when two teams ONLY are tied in points, the game played between those tied teams

3)    Least Goals Against: Total scores against in all games played

4)    Differential: The best ratio of "Goals For/(Goals For + Goals Against)" in all round robin games

5)    Most Goals for: Total scores for in all games played

6)    Coin Toss: A toss of a coin by the tournament chairperson. (teams do not have to be present, the results will be posted on the website.)
