U15BB Guelph Gryphons are OMHA Champions!
The Gryphons traveled to Whitby the past weekend to compete in the OMHA Championships. The Gryphons entered the competition finishing in 3rd place in Try-county, hungry to win.
During fierce round robin play, the Gryphons were able to blank Oakville, the Try-county Champions by scoring 3 goals in the first period and playing shut down hockey in the second and third for a 3-0 win.
After completing round robin play 3-0, the Gryphons matched up against the rival Caledon Hawks, who put the Gryphons out in the Tri-county semi-finals. Ready for revenge, the Gryphons played 3 periods of strong hockey and won 1-0 to advance to the finals vs the Aurora Tigers. During a roller coaster 3rd period which saw 5 goals scored, the Gryphons were able to take a 5-4 lead with 40 seconds to go and hang on to capture the red hats!
