Novice Selects Battle To Draw with Fusion
After battling each other in GMHA house league action on Sunday afternoon, the Novice Selects set aside their league rivalries to band together and head to Fergus and take on the Centre Wellington Fusion on Sunday evening.  In a very evenly matched game, the Gryphons gave a hard working effort that led to a 3-3 tie.

The Grphons drew first blood 2:55 into the contest as Nathan Bowman sprinted the length of the ice to chase down a loose puck and snapped a hard wrist shot inside the far post to give Guelph a 1-0 lead.  Centre Wellington answered back on a solo effort by Tanner Morley with 3:51 left in the opening frame.  With 1:53 left in the period,  Peter Schlitt worked the puck loose deep in the offensive zone onto the stick of Nathan Bowman who walked in and snapped another wrist shot for his second snipe of the game.  The score stood 2-1 in favour of Guelph after one period of play.

Guelph scored the only goal of the second period.  After sustained pressure by the forward line of Milan Wilson, Declan O' Hearn, and Brayden Tomei, the puck came back to defenseman Vid Peteranac.  Peteranac  snapped a wrist shot on net  from the top of the circle that tucked itself inside the far post and the Gryphons had a 3-1 lead after two periods of play.

In the third, the Gryphons couldn't find a way to stop Tanner Morley and his blazing wrist shot.  Morley walked in alone to roof the puck with 6:33 left to make it a one goal game and then blasted a shot to the back of the net with just 17 seconds left to tie the score.   The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

The Novice Selects are now off for two weeks before travelling to Nottawasaga  to compete in the Blue and Gold Tournament.
