U15 AAs are OMHA Finalists!
The Guelph Gryphons U15 AA team travelled to Kingston to faceoff against some of the best teams in their perspective regions!

First up on Friday was Windsor Jr Spitfire from the Bluewater league. Guelph started off a little nervous but when they got their legs under them they took it to Windsor. Taking game 1 of the tournament 10-1.

Up next was the York Simcoe finalists, Aurora Tigers. Again, the Gryphons looked nervous to start but once they found the back of the net that all changed. Not giving Aurora much room to breathe the Gryphons took game 2, 7-1.

The final game of the round robin was against Whitby Wildcats Blue. The Gryphons beat Whitby in a tournament earlier in the year and knew they would be in a tougher game than the first 2. The nerves were gone and the Gryphons took control of the game taking a 3-0 lead. Then the ref decided he was going to be the show and one after another the Gryphons would sit. Whitby needed a 5on3 and 6on3 (late in the game) scenario to get themselves back in the game. After 18 mins to Whitby's 2 mins in penalties, the Gryphons proved they were still the better team and got the W 3-2.

Off to the semi finals vs one of their Tri County rivals, Burlington Eagles Gold. Each game this season has been close and this one was no different. Back and forth action with loud fans on both sides kept this one feeling like the it was the championship. The Gryphons would take a 1-0 lead midway through the 1st and hold on right to the final buzzer. Booking their spot in the finals!

In the Championship game the Gryphons were facing the only other team to not lose in the tournament, Barrie Jr Colts. The noise from all the families and friends on both sides made the atmosphere in the building feel like they were playing game 7 of the OMHA Championships! haha It was loud and wild to be apart of.
Barrie would score a couple mins into the game putting Guelph behind for the first time in the tournament. But Guelph would continue to battle and score late in the 1st to tie it up. Back to back goals by Barrie would put them up 3-1 just over 5 mins into the 2nd. But a mere 47 secs later the Gryphs would put one away to make it 3-2 and ignite the Guelph crowd.
As the 2nd period wound down Barrie would take advantage of a missed call and wrap it around to take a 4-2 lead into the 3rd. The boys did all they could to pump themselves up but just couldn't beat the Barrie goalie. Barrie would get 2 more late in the game to take the #Redhats by a score of 6-2.

It was an incredible season for the U15 AA Gryphons! Going 53-6-6, 322 GF, and only 103 GA. Congratulations on all the success and being OMHA Finalists!! Thank you to all the coaches for all their hard work and time this season!
