Solid Road Weekend
The Gryphons secured 3 of 4 points this past weekend having to travel to Chesley and Brampton to face the Grey Bruce Highlanders and Halton Hurricanes.

The Gryphons outshot the Highlanders and carried the play for most of the game on Saturday. The home team went up 1-0 on a 5 on 3 goal in the second period, beating Hayden Dunford for their only goal of the game. The Gryphons kept pressing and stuck to the game plan and were rewarded in the third period when Joe Marra drove the net and buried the tying goal. Although the Gryphons had several more chances, they could not solve the Highlander goaltender and had to settle for a 1-1 tie. Dunford was solid in net, turning aside several good Highlander chances with some key saves at critical moments.

On Sunday the Gryphons met the Hurricanes for their final regular season meeting. Joe Marra wasted no time putting the Gryphons up 1-0 on the powerplay early in the first period. After carrying the play for the rest of the period, the Gryphons started filling the net in the second. First Liam Nolan buried the eventual game winner off of a great pass from Ryan Goetz. Before the end of the second Nolan would add another, and Isiah Katsube scored twice putting the Gryphons up 5-0 before Halton would beat Chris Linton for their lone goal. Playing a very smart third period with a lead, the Gryphons would increase their lead when Nick Billeci scored on the powerplay. Shortly after Jakson Kirk would score the final goal giving the Gryphons a 7-1 victory. Cam Angst contributed 3 assists from the blueline, while Linton picked up the win and had to make several big saves in the dying minutes of the game.

With 8 games left the Gryphons will look to continue their winning ways Thursday in Hamilton. Go Gryphs!
