AE - Bantam - International SIlver Stick

Bantam AE boys kick off 2018 as International Silver Stick Champions!

The Gryphons were invited to the International Silver Stick Final Tournament hosted by the Pelham Panthers. The team was invited to Pelham after losing to the Orangeville Flyers AE1 in the qualifier tournament, in Chatham. 

The Bantam AE team travelled to the Niagara region to participate in the International Silver Stick Final Tournament hosted by the Pelham Panthers. The team was invited to Pelham after losing to the Orangeville Flyers AE1 in the qualifier tournament, in Chatham.  There were 8 teams from the US and 8 teams from Ontario participating. The Gryphs opened the tournament with 2 wins on Thursday, 4 -1 vs Fort Wayne PSM Force and a 3 - 0 victory vs the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Friday saw the Bantam AE team win their final round robin game 4 -1 vs the Dorchester Dragons. This gave the team a perfect 3 & 0 record after the round robin and first place in their pool. Friday afternoon was the quarter final game vs the host Pelham Panthers and the Bantam team was again victorious 3-0. In the semi-final game  the team played the Collingwood Blackhawks and again, the team was victorious with yet another 3 - 0 victory. Sunday brought the finals and it was a chance at redemption- Gryphons vs. Flyers as the team played the Orangeville AE1 team again. After a physical game, the Gryphons skated to a 3 - 0 victory - their 4th of the tournament.   The team defeated Orangeville giving them only their 3rd loss of the season to date.  The Gryphons ended the tournament with a perfect 6 & 0 record with 20 goals for and only 2 against!
 
Congrats on being the 2017-2018 International Silver Stick Championship team!!

Guelph Gryphons Bantam AE will be entered into the Hockey Hall of Fame for a period of one year (approx. May 2018-May 2019)
