AE - PeeWee - Peewee AE Chi-Town Cup Champions
Submitted By Lindsey Glavaz on Thursday, November 14, 2019
The Peewee AE team traveled to Chicago this past weekend to participate in the 2019 Chi-Town Cup Tournament. They emerged from the preliminary round with a perfect record (having won all of their games by the same 3-1 score).

The final would be “The Battle of the Gryphons” with Guelph facing off against the Grand Rapids Griffins.  The game did not start ideally with Grand Rapids taking an early 1-0 lead.  The remainder of the game was a scrappy back and forth affair with the Guelph Gryphons battling hard and putting their opponents under constant pressure.  With less than 2 minutes to go in the third period things we looking desperate.  However, the tables were about to turn in dramatic fashion.  With 1:15 left, Guelph equalized on an loose puck in front of the net, only to be followed by the game winner just seconds later off the ensuing faceoff.  A third goal was slotted in on the Griffins empty net as the clock ran down.  When the buzzer went to end the game the Gryphons were 3-1 winner yet again, and tournament champions!  Congratulations to all of the players and coaches for a great effort this weekend, and kudos to the parents for driving home from Chicago in some seriously nasty weather Monday.
