AA - Minor PeeWee - M Peewee AA Powerplay CHAMPIONS!!!
Submitted By Shawn Patterson on Tuesday, November 26, 2019
The Guelph Jr Gryphons M Peewee AA are your 2019 Powerplay Tournament Champions!

The Gryphons kicked the tournament off with back to back shutouts beating the Markham Islanders 5-0 and the Ajax Knights 4-0. Needing to win 1 game on Saturday to secure their spot in a Sunday game the Gryphons didn't hold back and won both games. First beating Kingston Canadians 3-2 and then the Buffalo Regals 5-2.
In the semi finals on Sunday we were up against the Kingston Canadians looking to get redemption and upset the top seeded Gryphons. However, our boys seemed to want it more and came out flying to beat the Canadians 5-1 only allowing 6 shots against.
On to the finals VS the only other undefeated team, the Kitchener Jr Rangers. The Rangers came to play scoring in the first 3 mins of the game and then again a minute twenty into the 2nd. However, the Gryphons weren't going to let the Hwy 7 rivals walk away with this one. 20 seconds later we were back in it, 2-1. After exchanging a goal each it was 3-2 Kitchener until 1.8 seconds left in the 2nd when the Gryphons tied it up!! It was a hard fought battle throughout the 3rd period until 1:52 left in the game when the Gryphons scored to take their first lead. Off the next faceoff the Gryphs got the puck deep into the Rangers zone controlling the play not allowing the Rangers the chance to pull their goalie. As the final seconds started ticking down the boys on the ice, the bench, and the families in the crowd started going nuts. The Guelph Jr Gryphons M Peewee AA's were tournament CHAMPIONS with a 4-3 victory!!

A huge congratulations to the players and coaches for another undefeated tournament win! On behalf of the parents we're all so proud of how hard you're working.
