GMHA to Host Town Hall Meeting - A Review of 2020-21 Return to Play plans
Submitted By Bryan Smith on Tuesday, August 25, 2020
GMHA Members, As stated in the post on August 18, 2020, we are prepared to present the GMHA membership and community with the plan we will be submitting to the OMHA for approvals.  The plan will be presented at a Town Hall meeting this upcoming Thursday August 27, 2020 at 7:00 pm. Details below on how to register for the Zoom meeting.

We know that there continues to be updates on other associations' websites.  Many of them may still be awaiting approval from the OMHA and changes could be expected.  Some Associations are stating that they will be holding tryouts. Please understand that this is not the direction of the Ontario Hockey Federation and one can assume that the plan will not be approved. We have chosen a different direction for our return to hockey plan more in line with the guideline set out by OHF and OMHA.  Also understanding things are changing at a fast pace and we will of course correct as needed.

House League and SD families, we have not yet firmed up the plans. We are waiting for the OMHA to provide further direction on House League programming. However, we are assuming the format will be very similar. This Town Hall will be geared more towards last year’s Rep families. The Recreation programming will be discussed at a later date.

We would like to be forthcoming to let you know that you will need to make a choice regarding participating in the GMHA program or choose to go elsewhere. After September 30, 2020 OMHA has indicated you cannot participate in unsanctioned tournaments or leagues while participating in GMHA programming similar to regular season rules.

For more information visit OMHA's FAQ.

We hope that you will be able to attend the Zoom Town Hall so you can hear about the great program put together by Chad Wiseman and our technical support team. We are very excited about what it will offer your children as we return to our new normal for the time being.
