It's That Time of Year Again!!! LOTS OF UPDATES FOR GMHA MEMBERS!

If there's one post you don't want to miss from GMHA this year, it's this one!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Guelph Minor Hockey is putting the call out for coaches, bench staff, volunteers and convenors to help out during the upcoming season for Select, House League and Skills and Development.
We are looking for passionate people who are keen to help, ensuring our kids love there time at GMHA, both on and off the ice! This could be parents, grandparents, high school kids who need volunteer hours, University students or simply hockey enthusiasts. And for those of you that have never played hockey but would like to help, we have plenty of off-ice volunteer roles that would be perfect for you!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS NEEDED
Select Coaches Applications are Being Excepted Now!

 

Guelph Minor Hockey is currently looking for a variety of volunteers for Select, House League and Skills & Development, with immediate need for Select Coaching Staff:
  • Convenors for the following age groups: SD1, U9, U10/11 and U18
  • Head coaches
  • Assistant coaches
  • Trainers
  • Team Managers
  • Bench Volunteers
  • Off-ice volunteers (Special Events, Tournaments, Administrative work, etc)

Most of our on-ice volunteer positions such as coaches and trainers, do require certain certifications, but don’t worry! We’ve got you covered! Guelph Minor Hockey will walk you through everything that is needed, how to get it, where to find it and ensure you get reimbursed for certain coaching qualifications.

ALL GMHA MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO SET UP & COMPLETE THEIR HOCKEY CANADA PROFILEAS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Hockey Canada is now requiring that ALL GMHA MEMBERS ensure their Hockey Canada profiles are updated with all requirements. The following are needed for EVERY PLAYER AND COACH;
  • Driver’s License (to show proof of address)
  • Birth Certificate (to show proof of age)
  • Updating Profile Information (ensure all required fields are updated for a complete profile)
When logging into your Hockey Canada Profile, a pop up will appear indicating the requirement needed. Please ensure these missing items are added to your profile as soon as possible. More information can be found on our website.
YOUR HOCKEY CANADA PROFILE NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED IN ORDERTO APPROVE TEAM ROSTERS AND ALLOW YOUR TEAM TO COMPETE.

Representative Updates
U10, U11, U12, U13, & U18 Tryouts are beginning in September. If you are looking to attend tryouts for your child’s age group, please review details on Purchasing a Tryout Pass

The Tryout Schedule (Dates, Times and Locations)for U10, U11, U12, U13, & U18 are now available on the website: Main Menu > Tryouts > Tryouts > Scroll down to see your age group.

U14, U15, & U16 Representative teams will be hitting the ice for practices starting the 2ndweek of September.

U10 and U11 Prep Skates
Please check your email (and spam folder) for your prep skates date and time. An email will be sent out in the next few days. This will not be posted on the website, only through email.

When to Show up for Tryouts
If you have signed up for the AAA tryouts, be sure to show up for the first day of AAA tryouts, unless the coach tells you otherwise.

SPONSORSHIPS NEEDED
Sponsorship plays a vital role in providing kids in the Guelph community an opportunity to play hockey. GMHA looks to offset costs by providing sponsorship opportunities, making hockey more affordable for everyone. At this time, we are still looking for Association Sponsors. If you wish to support GMHA, please complete our Sponsorship Form.
IMPORTANT
HOUSE LEAGUE UPDATE
U9, U10/11, U12/13, U14, U15/16, & U18
House League Evaluation Skates will occur: October 15/16 & 22/23.
This is to ensure the teams are properly balanced for the start of the season.

House League will officially kick off the weekend of October 29 & 30.
The official schedule will be posted over the next few weeks.

Convenors will be reaching out about Evaluation Skates between October 5-13. Another email will be sent when this is posted on our website

We are looking for coaches for all of our house league teams and age groups and Convenors for SD1, U9, U10/11 & U18. Apply Here!

SKATING SCHOOL
Our lead instructor Janet Gibson will be reaching out to you in the next few weeks to provide an introductory email. 
The skating school sessions will start on September 24th.These sessions will take place at the University of Guelph – Red Rink.
Your registration will indicate if you are signed up for the 8AM or 9AM session.

IMPORTANT ADP UPDATE
 
U8 & U9 Advanced Development Program Updates
For those looking to join these programs, there is an evaluation selection process. Please keep in mind this program is completely separate and runs separately from the traditional House League program.

Preparation Skates - Sept 6-18: 4 sessions
Evaluation Skates - Sept 19-30: 4 sessions
Specific dates and times will be provided to all registered families once they are available.

U8 and U9 Prep Skates
U8 players are eligible to attend and if selected, the program will be a separately run program from the U8 Skills Development 3 program that you would have registered your child for with GMHA. Nothing is required on your part at this point other than ensuring you are registered for the Evaluation Pass and prepared to attend the 8 sessions throughout September. If you are only interested in having your child play in the U8 Skills Development 3 program, then nothing further is required from you at this point.
U9 players are eligible to attend and if selected, the program will be a separately run program from the U9 House League program that you would have registered your child for with GMHA. Nothing is required on your part at this point other than ensuring you are registered for the Evaluation Pass and prepared to attend the 8 sessions throughout September. If you are only interested in having your child play in the House League program, then nothing further is required from you at this point.
U6, U7, & U8 (Skills Development 1, 2, & 3)
STARTS OCTOBER 15th at CENTENNIAL ARENA
Our Skills & Development Program will commence October 15th at Centennial. The schedule will be posted in the coming weeks and a new email will be sent out on where to find that information. Your Convenor will be reaching out to your age group closer to the league start date.
