Lake effect snow and Taylor Swift
weren’t the only things rolling into Buffalo last weekend! Congratulations to
the U12 A Gryphons for creating a storm of awesomeness, putting forward an amazing
effort throughout the weekend and capturing gold at the 51st annual
Gene Harrington Winter Ice Experience!
On the back of outstanding goaltending,
shut-down defense, in-your-face forechecking and balanced scoring the Gryphons had
a perfect weekend going undefeated and taking down teams from both the US and
Canada!
The tournament started off Friday
morning with a 4-0 win versus the Tampa Bay Jr. Lightning. This was followed by
a very tight outdoor game against the Brampton 45s. Trailing 2-1 with just over
5 mins left in the game they decided that loosing was not an option scoring 2
goals for a 3-2 win. Playing only one game Saturday the Gryphons faced the Glancaster
Bombers with a guaranteed place in the finals on the line. The Gryphons battled
through adversity and came away with a 4-1 win.
With everything on the line, the
Gryphons found themselves in a rematch with Glancaster for gold! The Gryphons
came to play, putting forth one of their best efforts of the season in what quickly
became an ultra competitive game! With the
score tied 0-0 after two periods the players found an extra gear scoring 3
goals in the 3rd putting an exclamation mark on a perfect weekend!
Throughout their time in Buffalo the
team represented the Gryphons extremely well earning praise for their behaviours
both on and off the ice. The coaching staff and parents could not be more proud
of our players!
Congratulations U12A Gryphons! 51st
Annual Gene Harrington Winter Ice Experience Champions!
