NEW INFORMATION ABOUT ADVANCED LEAGUE TRYOUTS, MINI GRYPHONS AND HOUSE LEAGUE FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON
With the hockey season quickly upon us, Guelph Minor Hockey Association would like to welcome you to our upcoming season and provide you with important dates pertaining to Advanced League, Mini Gryphons, and House League for the 2024-2025 season.

ADVANCED LEAGUE TRYOUTS


Advanced League tryouts schedule has been posted. Advanced League tryouts will start September 9 to September 15, with each age group getting 2 tryout skates, and an exhibition game. Releases may happen after the first skate, depending on numbers and coaches decisions. Head coaches will be reaching out to outline their plan, expectations, etc, early this week. You can find your dates, times and locations by following these instructions: 


1. Go to www.guelphminorhockey.com

2. Under the home page banner, on the red banner, locate ADVANCED LEAGUE and click on SELECT

3. Select your age group

4. Scroll down to the calendar and select “FULL CALENDAR” on the right side above the calendar

5. Select SEPTEMBER”

6. On the right you will see all events happening for your age group in September, which will show your tryout dates, times and locations.

3. Scroll down to the bottom and select your age group to reveal your tryout sessions

*Important Information About Advanced League

Please note, that while our objective is to supply the above house league age groups with the opportunity to engage in additional on-ice competition through the Advanced League program, this availability is subject to having enough players to safely create and facilitate those teams. The decision to move forward with a part time team, full time team or any team, will be at the discretion of the House League Director and members of the Guelph Minor Hockey Association board and based on the following criteria. (scroll down to the bottom of this page)

ADVANCED LEAGUE HEAD COACH UPDATE

We have had new applicants for the U10/11 and U12 age group and will have confirmation of head coaches no later than Wednesday, September 4. Once confirmed, we will post who those individuals are and they will be in touch with the players on their tryout list.

MINI GRYPHONS (U6, U7, U8 and U9)


Our Mini Gryphon program will start with 2 weekends of evaluation skates in order to properly access each players abilities to ensure we create well-balanced teams. 


Evaluations will take place:

Sept. 28 and Sept. 29

Oct. 5 and Oct. 6
*Teams will be organized alphabetically - an email will be provided mid September outlining which team and time to attend for the evaluation skates


Start of Regular Season:

Oct. 19 


End of Season:
U6, U7 and U8: March 8 (skills competition) and March 9 (area games)
U9: March 28 (skills competition) and March 29 (full ice games) at the University of Guelph in conjunction with the House League Championship weekend. More details to come


MINI GRYPHONS SCHEDULE AN BE FOUND FOLLOWING THESE STEPS (ONCE POSTED):


1. Go to www.guelphminorhockey.com

2. Under the home page banner, on the red banner, and select MINI GRYPHONS (U6-U9)

3. Select your age group

4. Scroll down to the calendar and select “FULL CALENDAR” on the right side above the calendar

5. Select SEPTEMBER”


A reminder email will be sent out mid September that will include locations and times to the evaluation skates as well as what to expect on the ice. The 2 weeks of evaluation skates are simply to ensure teams that start on October 19th are well balanced. While scores are not taken throughout the season, it is important that teams are still balanced appropriately. 


We are still looking for on ice coaches and assistant coaches as well as a Convenors. If you have already filled this form out, an new will be coming out lat next week for further details. If you are interested, please fill out the House League Volunteer Form here

HOUSE LEAGUE U10 – U18 


Our House League program will start with 2 weekends of evaluation skates in order to properly access each players abilities to ensure we create well-balanced teams and equal play throughout the season.


*Please note: there will be a 2-3 week “movement” period (depending on age group) after the start of regular season, that players may be moved around to ensure the teams are well balanced. 


Evaluations will take place:

U10 - U15:
Sept 28/Sept 29

Oct 5/Oct 6
*Teams will be organized alphabetically - an email will be provided mid September outlining which team and time to attend for the evaluation skates

U18:
Sept 29

Oct 6
*Teams will be organized alphabetically - an email will be provided mid September outlining which team and time to attend for the evaluation skates


Start of Regular Season:

Oct. 19 


End of Season:
March 29 and March 30 - Weekend of Champs! (House League Championship weekend)

IMPORTANT; TIMES AND LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE UNTIL THE START OF THE SEASON. SHOULD CHANGES OCCUR, DIVISIONS WILL BE NOTIFIED. 

Mini Gryphons and House League will continue to play over the weekend as normally scheduled.
